    Very often I need to access a couple of remote folder locations and open files from there. The file names always change.

    Is there a way to store folder locations as favorites or bookmarks in Notepad++?

    I am NOT talking about file locations. For these different remote folder locations, the open dialog should be opened from which a file within this folder can be chosen.

    I tried the NppFavorites and Explorer plugins, but these work with files or local folders only.

    Any ideas?

      @nsk7even ,
      I’m not sure about the remote aspect, I’m on a solo computer setup, but if there is no difference, or if it needs to be setup as a cloud setup, that and Folder as Workspace in the view menu, might get you what you want? This is, untested of course, since I don’t use these options, but having read a lot of the manual, this would seem to be what you’re looking to do. Correct me if I’m wrong, please. :-)

        @nsk7even When the remote folder is available then from Notepad++, or probably application, do Ctrl+O to bring up the Open File dialog box. The remote drive should be available in the lower part of the left sidebar of the dialog box. Click on the remote drive and in that area keep drilling down until you can see the remote folder. Once you see the folder name then right click on it and select “Pin to Quick access.” This will cause the folder to appear in the middle part of the left sidebar.

        Now, when you do Ctrl+O to bring up the Open file dialog box, your folder will be available in the middle part of the left sidebar of the dialog box. Keep in mind that the folder will still be visible in the sidebar even when the remote device is not available. You’ll get an error if you click on it but at least it’s there and will work when the remote device is on line.

            @Edward-Wilson ,

            Can I ask something?

            There’s no reason to ask if you can ask, as it wastes everybody’s time (including yours – if you had already asked it, people could already be formulating an answer to your actual question, rather than spending time telling you that you can ask Notepad++ questions in a Notepad++ forum). If it’s an on-topic question about Notepad++, then go ahead and ask; if it’s not about Notepad++, then the obvious answer is no, you should not ask it in a Notepad++ forum.

            If your question is about bookmarking folder locations, you can ask it by replying to this Topic, like you did for your first post. If it’s about some other aspect of Notepad++, then either hit the New Topic button in the main Help Wanted section to ask a new question, or reply to an existing Topic that your question is specific to.
