      is here an option nowadays?
      some years ago someone wrote that he made a macro and added it to ‘Move Document’ . with shift/ctrl/alt and arrow left or right (or something like that) the file tab was in any case shifted faster.
      Note also in View Document List it seems not possible to shat a file name quickly.

        @Arne-Everhard it sounds like you’re referring to the functionality of the Move Tab Forward and Move Tab Backward options in the View > Tab menu. If so, both have default shortcuts, but they can be modified in the Main Menu tab of the shortcut mapper.

        Note: I actually had a difficult time finding those particular options in my own window at first; you may need to filter by “tab” to see these particular options right away.

            No, the tabs at the top of the window represent files that are currently open, whereas the list in the File menu represents the files that have been recently closed. You can modify the latter within a configuration file, but these are fundamentally different lists/sets of files, so their orders don’t affect one another.

            Perhaps I’m misunderstanding which tabs/lists you are referring to; if my responses don’t seem to align with what you’re trying to ask about, please clarify your questions.

              Since you mention “document-list on the left side”, I am assuming you are talking about the sub-window/panel toggled using View > Document List (update: since I reread the original post, I am now convinced that’s what you were talking about, since you mentioned it explicitly). There are already plenty of ways to move the tab order around, through the sorting available in the Document List panel or Notepad++'s Windows menu, to dragging tabs around on the tabbar to the View > Tab sub-menu with keyboard shortcuts on many of its actions (and Shortcut Mapper available if you want a shortcut for another action from that menu).

              With so many ways to already influence the order, I doubt it’s likely that the developer would add it to the Document List panel as well (and it’s guaranteed that it won’t happen if you only have a post here, because as our FAQ explains, this is not the place for feature requests).

              @mathlete2 ,

              Having the post say “documents-list of the left side” seemed pretty clear to me to indicate the question was about Notepad++'s Document List panel. Does that not seem the most likely to you, based on the wording? Especially since the original post also said “Note also in View Document List it seems not possible”.
