color change after downloading

When downloading a text file, the background and foreground colors differ from my chosen settings. Why?

Firstly I’d say ALL files you “download” into Notepad++ WILL be text files. Why, because Notepad++ is a text editor.
When the file is in Notepad++, in the bottom left of the Notepad++ window will be some text. It might say “Normal Text File”, or it might say “Batch file” or something else. What does yours say?
Your “chosen settings” might not be for the same type of file as loaded. There are “style configurator” preferences for many types of file. There is also the “Default setting” and a Global override setting.

Thaks Terry, that was quick! I did not know that the style config depended on the type of file; in my case, it was a batch file. Thanks again.
