      Hi Everyone,

      The update status page is not returning the latest version. At the time of posting, version 8.9.3 is the latest version, but the version check URL below is reporting 8.9.1 as being the latest.

      https://www.notepad-plus-plus.org/update/getDownloadUrl.php?version=8.9.1

      Is there a new status URL which should be used, or is there a fault which needs addressing?

      Thanks

        @Phil-Shearer,

        It’s not out of date. The download page doesn’t show a new version as being ready until it’s been “triggered for auto-update”.

        The forum has a FAQ on “Most Recent Version” and why that’s not a useful phrase. And the User Manual has a few paragraphs on No New Version Found: Safety Delay

        Specifically, right now: v8.9.1 was the last to be triggered for auto-update, so it’s the “most recent” according to that download-version checker. v8.9.2 had critical regressions, so was never triggered for auto-update (don’t want to auto-update and cause Notepad++ to start crashing on unsuspecting users). v8.9.3 is looking reasonably stable; but, according to this post, it still has another week, until the Developer will trigger it for auto-update.

        That is the right status URL. It is behaving exactly as expecting, not advertising a new version until it’s been triggered for auto-update.

          @PeterJones thank you. That is really helpful. Annoyingly cyber security tools are reporting 8.9.1 is out of date and flagging devices with that version as vulnerable. I’ll just ignore the report for now and hopefully it will all be good again in a week or two.

            … or you could go to the official download site at https://notepad-plus-plus.org/downloads/v8.9.3/, and get the v8.9.3 installer manually, rather than waiting for it to be triggered for auto-update. But it’s up to you.
