Why is the text anti-aliased in 6.7.9.2

I upgraded from 6.7.8.2 to 6.7.9.2 and noticed the text was anti-aliased (font smoothing was on). Is there a way to turn this off? I had to downgrad back to 6.7.8.2 to get back my crisp non anti-aliased text.
