Is there an easy way to find and open a file in the current workspace?

I am using the “Folder as Workspace” feature. On the top of the panel, there is an empty space which seems like a perfect place for a filter input box, but there is not. I want to type part of a file name in the workspace and click to open it.

I have tried the FileFinder plugin but it did not seem like what I want. Also, that plugin malfunctions under high-dpi settings and is unusable.
