    Due to the release of Notepad++ v7.8.1 which contains a link to >>> this text <<< on the Notepad++ homepage, asking for support for the “Uyghur Human Rights Project”, the Notepad++ project is under attack.

    To get some background information visit the following links:

    https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/10/31/notepad_china_spam/
    https://www.zdnet.com/article/chinese-users-attack-notepad-app-after-free-uyghur-release/

    Currently the download server seems to be under a DDoS attack, presumably controled by individuals from China. Thus, checking for availability of an updated version of Notepad++ may fail as well as downloading it manually from the homepage.

    After the issue tracker of the project at GitHub has been flooded with spam yesterday, currently only contributors of the project are allowed to open new issues and leave comments.

    To protect this community forum, new questions and comments to existing questions currently may have to undergo moderation before being publicly visible. So, please avoid double postings to reduce the impact on the moderators of this forum.

    We hope to return to normal service in a few days, please be patient.

    [EDIT]
    Issue has been resolved.
    [/EDIT]

      currently only contributors of the project are allowed to open new issues and leave comments.

      I don’t think this stands true. I am a contributor, but I am not able to submit an issue or leave comment.

        @SinghRajenM

        These are the three options GitHub provides to repository owners to limit interaction:

        I thought currently option 2 (Limit to prior contributors) is activated. Would you say it could be option 3 (Limit to repository collaborators) instead? This would be even worse, it would mean the whole process of working on Notepad++ code has been stopped.
