    Hi!

    In this topic we could collect places in program which are not translatable at all. It means that the english strings are hardcoded into the program itself, so no chance to translate them at this moment. To make them translatable , code changes are required from developer.

    This topic post may help Don Ho to make them translatable.

    Also don’t confuse this topic with the strings which are translatable, but missing from english.xml. We call that part “Unofficial strings”, that Topic can be found here .

    Don’t spam this topic with language specific work.

    guy038 nicely collected these places. Thanks a lot! Below is quote from him:
    In N++, where translations NEVER occur :

    • In the Find Result panel ( Title of the dialog and title of each search )
    • In all the Search - Incremental Search dialog, at bottom of the screen
    • In all the View - Summary… dialog
    • In the Settings - Shortcut Mapper… dialog ( Tabs and Buttons )
    • In the Shortcut dialog ( when double-clicking on a line of the Shortcut Mapper )
    • In the Macro - Modified Shortcut/Delete Macro… dialog ( Tabs and Buttons )
    • In the Window - Windows… dialog ( Columns Header : Name, Path, Type )
    • In all the ? - Command Line Arguments… dialog

    I’m afraid that, for each of these places, they are hard-coded in the Notepad.exe file

    Best Regards,
    guy038

      I found that many strings hardcoded are includeded in shortcuts.xml

      NotepadPlus>
      <InternalCommands />
      <Macros>
      <Macro name=“Trim Trailing and save” Ctrl=“no” Alt=“yes” Shift=“yes” Key=“83”>
      <Action type=“2” message=“0” wParam=“42024” lParam=“0” sParam=“” />
      <Action type=“2” message=“0” wParam=“41006” lParam=“0” sParam=“” />
      </Macro>
      </Macros>
      <UserDefinedCommands>
      <Command name=“Launch in Firefox” Ctrl=“yes” Alt=“yes” Shift=“yes” Key=“88”>firefox “$(FULL_CURRENT_PATH)”</Command>
      <Command name=“Launch in IE” Ctrl=“yes” Alt=“yes” Shift=“yes” Key=“73”>iexplore “$(FULL_CURRENT_PATH)”</Command>
      <Command name=“Launch in Chrome” Ctrl=“yes” Alt=“yes” Shift=“yes” Key=“82”>chrome “$(FULL_CURRENT_PATH)”</Command>
      <Command name=“Launch in Safari” Ctrl=“yes” Alt=“yes” Shift=“yes” Key=“70”>safari “$(FULL_CURRENT_PATH)”</Command>
      <Command name=“Get php help” Ctrl=“no” Alt=“yes” Shift=“no” Key=“112”>http://www.php.net/$(CURRENT_WORD) </Command>
      <Command name=“Google Search” Ctrl=“no” Alt=“yes” Shift=“no” Key=“113”>https://www.google.com/search?q=$(CURRENT_WORD) </Command>
      <Command name=“Wikipedia Search” Ctrl=“no” Alt=“yes” Shift=“no” Key=“114”>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=$(CURRENT_WORD) </Command>
      <Command name=“Open file” Ctrl=“no” Alt=“yes” Shift=“no” Key=“116”>$(NPP_DIRECTORY)\notepad++.exe $(CURRENT_WORD)</Command>
      <Command name=“Open in another instance” Ctrl=“no” Alt=“yes” Shift=“no” Key=“117”>$(NPP_DIRECTORY)\notepad++.exe $(CURRENT_WORD) -nosession -multiInst</Command>
      <Command name=“Send via Outlook” Ctrl=“yes” Alt=“yes” Shift=“yes” Key=“79”>outlook /a “$(FULL_CURRENT_PATH)”</Command>
      </UserDefinedCommands>
      <PluginCommands />
      <ScintillaKeys />
      </NotepadPlus>

      I revised the strings with Italian translation, save the file, and re-run NP++ but the macro name and command remain in English. I didn’t understand why.

        <Cloud title=“Cloud”>
        “Invalid path.” string is not translatable. I tried several item ID’s, but none of them worked.
