I just installed notepad++ to new windows 10 home 64bit machine and then put the userDefineLang.xml to the settings directory to have custom syntax highlighting like before.
But what happens now sometimes is that the highlighting breaks and all the text gets gray like there’s quotation mark open or green like comment open.
Then I have to restart notepad++ to get the highlighting working again
Any ideas what is causing this?
Still haven’t been able to fix this. I tried reinstalling notepad++ but it didn’t help. Maybe it’s just the user defined language that doesn’t work but it used to work.
Does anyone have ideas what to try?

delete userDefineLang.xml in dir
language > define your language > import your xml
Thanks but that didn’t help

Is the UDL you use one which is available online?
What was the vesion of N++ you where using before when it still worked and what the current one. See https://notepad-plus-plus.org/community/topic/15739/faq-desk-request-for-help-without-sufficient-information-to-help-you what should be part of your question.
I don’t have the information right now which version it was because I have new PC now but
I believe it was latest. I can’t also remember anymore did I download the UDL file or create it my self. I think I created it and took command list from another file.
Here’s link to the UDL file if some one wants to take a look. It’s for arma .sqf files

I can confirm highlighting is broken on my end too.
I also noticed that highlighting is broken with two custom UDLs. Haven’t tried with other languages yet
