      Here @Aidolii said:

      Politics need to stay out of programming.

      I rather agree with you.

      To call something “Notepad++ 7.6.2 Gilet Jaune Edition” or “Notepad++ 6.7.4 - Je suis Charlie edition” seems to me just another form of “advertising”… And remember Plugin Manager…advertisements are bad.

        https://notepad-plus-plus.org/community/topic/16178/faq-desk-why-does-my-docx-file-look-like-junk-in-notepad is half baked - just need to copy/paste or export to np++.

        I’d like to reply to faqs even if they need to be verified before publishing or remain hidden and just considered by maintainer.

          @flywire,

          If you want to comment on a FAQ, you can always start a new Topic in General Discussion, and add a link to that FAQ to which you are replying.

            Imagine living in a world where people think they need the political opinions from the products they use. I mean how can you know what to support or believe in until your favorite BBQ sauce tells you? We’re somewhere between 1984 and Idiocracy and most likely the latter if you believe this statement is in support of or against any political view.

              Really sucks that notepad mix politics and software development.
              A software is not a medium to push your political agenda/opinion.

                The ones who cry about ads are just that - crybabies.
                Plugin manager was awesome. Right now we have useless and ugly plugin admin. Pathetic!

                  Notepad++ is a free application and its owners are free to do whatever they want.
                  If they want to do ads they can and should do so to cover their expenses since its users are poor and ungrateful folks who can’t even donate adequately.

                  If Notepad++ authors want to express their political views, they have full rights to do so as well and it’s a good and brave thing to do.

                  If you don’t get involved in politics, you are responsible for the consequences of your inaction.

                    @AgelessDick

                    Plugin manager was awesome.

                    Right. There is no doubt that the old plugin manager was awesome.

                    Right now we have useless and ugly plugin admin. Pathetic!

                    It is true that, right now plugin admin is ugly and pathetic. But it is not useless. Day by day it is becoming better and over the period of time, it will also be awesome.

                    So instead of saying ugly and pathetic in one go, reporting concerns or suggestions if any will be very helpful for the community.

                      @AgelessDick Maybe they have the right to be politically engaged,
                      But this does not mean they have to express it, when programming Notepad++

                        I’m a single male developer, so I was really excited by the last item on this page: https://notepad-plus-plus.org/contribute/

                        Nowhere to be found in the shops…

                              now that @John-Landheer apparently just signed up to ask for this, it’s probably reason enough to start a petition:

                              let’s vote to bring back the notepad++ thong !!! 😂😂😂

                                  I just want to say “F*CK to Notepad++” for its complex macros and shortcut/ menu defining methods.

                                      … i’m still uncertain, whether you meant what you said and posted it at the wrong place, or you were trying to be sarcastic and deliberately posted it in here …
                                      let’s hope for the first option ;-)

                                          Why this topic???

                                          i think because some people need to complain about something (anything) from time to time.
                                          i personally also prefer it to be separated from real user requests, and almost everyone seems to respect that so far, and choose this dedicated space to speak freely.

                                          it probably doesn’t always mean, that they want to complain about notepad++ itself, but some might be tempted to use this platform as a kind of valve for their current emotions.

                                            I second @andrecool-68 .

                                            The pointless category ever.
                                            Let’s at least call it “The Chat Room” where anyone can say anything without really trying/hoping to really change anything.

                                            Stopping the production of Notepad++ thongs is what I actually call “Notepad++ boycotting”
