I had not noticed that the zoom size affects the printing. That surprised me as I regularly change the zoom and have a one page report I print weekly. I know that with my printer that a printed page is 67 lines with 94 characters per line. Thus, before printing the weekly thing I check the line length and that it’s 67 or less lines. The printed pages have always been 67 × 94 despite that I may be zoomed in or out at the time.

I verified that at least for my current setup that the zoom level seems to have no affect on the printed results.

A minor Notepad++ printing annoyance for me is that words that DSpellCheck deems to be misspelled have red underlines in the printed pages. Thus I need to remember to ALT+A to disable DSpellCheck, print, and then ALT+A to re-enable automatic spell checking.

By default, the Style One Token / Style All Occurrences of Token commands do not have keyboard shortcuts.

But if you use Settings > Shortcut Mapper, set Filter = style, you can choose any of them and use Modify to set a keyboard shortcut for that token-highlight style.

I truly appreciate your quick response and such a clear explanation!

Indeed, upon rereading the documentation I referenced, I realized I misunderstood the use of the TranslateID attribute. It applies to contextMenu.xml, not shortcuts.xml, as I had mistakenly assumed. That was an oversight on my part, and I appreciate you pointing it out so objectively.

In my case, this was just curiosity based on that mistaken understanding. It’s not something essential for daily use of the application. I’m glad to have learned the actual scope of this functionality.

As I read it, it seems that the OP wants their Preference to be updated if they use the Edit, Blank Operations, TAB to Space (or Space to TAB).

Of course, I too could be confused. The lack of detail does make the OP open to interpretation.

I’m with @PeterJones on this.

One is a “Preference”, the other a “one-shot function”. This function should not be making changes to a Preference. And at the moment it isn’t, which I believe to be the correct decision.

Update: It works fine under the old CU and the new CU. I tried it with CAI enabled and not enabled, and the CU ran through everything, so the crash condition from CAI appears to be gone. Glad I could help find that edge case, unknowingly. :-)

By the way, after months of trying all sorts of tricks to successfully encode the ÿ character to Hex in a UTF-8 encoded page, I realized that I had to initiate a Windows-1252 page first. And then it successfully converted the PNG to Hex. lol.
The NUL bytes (\x00) were problematic as well because unless they get loaded into a raw binary state, they usually get converted to spaces (20) . So I get it now. ITS A TEXT EDITOR! … but at least Windows-1252 gives me a work-around for bytes 0x00–0xFF
And then of course there’s Base64 to save the day!

Lastly, I copy and paste a lot of binary content , so thanks for IDM_EDIT_COPY_BINARY 42048

Sorry, I am not sure about the automatic translation of your question: do you mean auto-correction, where it fixes spelling? Or auto-completion, where it helps you type programming keywords or other terms already found in your document?

The latter is native to the app, described https://npp-user-manual.org/docs/auto-completion/ in the manual , and controlled by the settings described https://npp-user-manual.org/docs/preferences/#auto-completion

Spelling correction is not implemented natively in Notepad++, but the DSpellCheck plugin is highly recommended for doing spell check and suggesting corrections.
