When you have a file open in a tab in Notepad++, you can see where changes to it will be saved by:

looking at the title bar of N++, where the full path is shown (there is a preference setting to turn this off but it is on by default)

hovering over the tab with the mouse, at which point a tooltip window will pop up, showing the complete path

REPEAT: There is no need ever to do a Save As on an existing file, unless you intend to create a copy with a different name.

Testing is always appreciated in case there are any bugs that show up.

The plugin itself is mostly stable as far as the set of features it has, so theres no immediate plans to add new functionality but that doesn’t others may have ideas I’ve never thought of.

Hello friends
So one year later I had to do the same replacements, and found that the original script did not work anymore (Same error as reported by @guy038 ). Something must have changed in Notepad++, Python or somewhere else, because the first time it worked fine.

Anyway, I updated the code as suggested by @Alan-Kilborn and it worked correctly.

@Ekopalypse I’m making gradual progress, working on it off and on between other distractions. I’m very happy with what I have so far. If I can find enough time to finish it I think it will be very good.

Forgot to mention, I may be the younger member, too. :-)

We actually have a developer that’s in his 90’s…and another in his 80’s, so since I’m the young one that isn’t actively working, I figured it would make a nice side hobby to setup the NPP package since many have been asking if one exists, and many said if there was, they’d like to know where it is. :-)

Of course, the main reason everyone says they haven’t gotten doing it is time…and that’s about all I have to offer since retiring. :-)

Just to clarify the “hang” is a really hard hang where I have to kill N++ and restart it, not just a long delay…
