Hmm. I wonder if the server doesn’t think your account has permission to access the root directory contents. Maybe try setting the default directory to your account’s “home directory”, and see if that works. Also, try seeing if the same thing happen with a separate *FTP client (maybe FileZilla or WinSCP or something similar)? if it happens with another client, then you will need to talk with the sysadmin or support for the server/provider. If it doesn’t, then the problem is probably too deep for me – you might want to file an issue with the NppFTP plugin’s issue tracker

I’d agree that going with the preference setting Peter mentions is the way to go, if this type of popup annoys you at all. End of story. Stop reading now… Unless you don’t want to enable that preference setting (e.g., you still want to be warned if multiple files are to be saved).

The feature request that Peter cites solves the problem specifically asked for:

not to do the popup when only the single viewed file is modified

So the real and exact answer is to make sure you are running 8.4.3 or later.

However, note that the popup will still occur if you invoke Save All and there is exactly one modified file and that file is not the currently active file. The only way it doesn’t occur is if the Save All is invoked and the current file is the only one modified. In this case the Save All is exactly equivalent to a Save, so no popup happens.

I am a reasonable user :-) and will put NP++ on the startup list.

The other option, of course, is for @venky to start from scratch with a new UDL. Then build it up slowly, so that every piece is known working.

Here, I start with blah.txt, with the UDL editor docked. I switch to the default User Defined Language (so it really starts from scratch), Create New, give it a name (Second), and switch the active language for just this file to Second.

Then I go into keywords, use lowercase warning and give it a color, to show that it’s case sensitive. (I forgot while recording this second video that the screenshot above already showed the Warning case matched what was in the pasted UDL definition)

I go into the second keywords box with capitalized Warning, assign it a color, and watch the color change in the editor.

If a user is having trouble getting a UDL to work, I recommend starting from scratch, and building it up slowly, because then you can see each individual step work.

99.9% of the time, yes. Certain users have said that they lost their settings, but no one has ever given a repeatable procedure that makes the NSIS installer overwrite existing config files.

I do not see any disrespect in asking to make changes and simultaneously supposing the changes are easy.
Notepad++ has already many functions having to do with saving (the “Save” function it self at first) so that the mentioned function is only a fork of something, that already exists (and makes the program ergonomically better).

I usually proceed as follows

Clone the repo open npp and start UDL dialog use import from the UDL dialog and point to Julia_Notepad++.xml from the cloned repo restart npp adjust the colors to my needs

I think Alt+x was somewhat of a hidden thing, that worked before the addition of some new UI elements, notice:

Really all it was doing was closing the current tab, so if you really like that keycombo you can just reassign the Close action in the Settings (menu) > Shortcut Mapper…, like so:

Anyway looking into getting some windows 2000 hardware collected, I think I think I have thought things through enough.
