    @Froggy01 : I am with Notepad++ 6.8.6. So I uninstalled it and installed 6.8.3. And all is correct and I see cyrillic letters. To be sure this is a version problem, I uninstalled it and installed 6.8.6 again. And surprise I can see cyrillic letters without a problem :) Than you for your assistance

    I’m not sure if you have already figured it out, but I came across your issue while looking for an answer myself. Thought I would post here for anyone else who stumbles across this. For me, I just had to go to Plugins > Plugin Manager > Show Plugin Manager, and then scrolled down to “DSpellCheck” and clicked “Install”. After a restart of Notepad++, it worked. I also found another issue here that suggests moving DSpellCheck.dll from the “disabled” folder to the “plugins” folder in your Notepad++ installation directory. Hope this helps! :)

    I understand, that’s why I didn’t post this earlier: my current version is 6.8.3 and the latest release is 6.8.6, so it should at least update my software to 6.8.5. I’m wrong ?

    Manual updates are perfectly fine and you don’t have to uninstall old versions. I notice that in my"?" menu there is no check for updates You either just have the standalone version of N++ (which does not auto-update) or during the installation you didn’t select the “automatically check for updates” option.

    The auto updater is triggered about a week after a release, that way in case any major bugs are found, thousands of people don’t have a bad version. Bugs can be reported on Github.

    Ok, I will check that out. One thing I just tried was Uninstalling NPP again and then DELETING the Notepad++ folder. Downloaded the latest and installed. It worked!!! BUT, I installed some of the plugins I had before and bam, does not remember anymore. I think it is Tidy, since that is one of the more recent ones. It could be the XML tools as well. For anyone trying to figure this out, the plugins I added after it was working, one of which made it fail could be one (or more) of these: Tidy2, XML Tools, NppAutoIndent, NppFTP, JSTool, JSON Viewer. I have had the last 4 for a long time. Tidy2 and XML Tools are when this issue started.

    by the theme chosen i.e. Vibrant Ink Looks like Vibrant Ink doesn’t have any style configuration for COBOL. Only a few non-default themes have it for COBOL at all.
