    @Infinite ,

    To repeat myself:

    None of your examples in the last 7 hours have ever given an example with more than one <ride_data_name> in the same file. I even prompted you with example BEFORE text that had multiple entries in one file, and you didn’t explain how I should process that. You haven’t ever defined what an “entry” is, in your mind. And yet you expect us to somehow come up with an expression for you. I cannot waste my time and yours making any more guesses.

    Based on the information you seem willing to supply, I am not able to help you any more. I am sorry.

    Sorry, but I’m not sure I understand this correctly.
    At the moment I understand that you want to use the same font in MATLAB or Visual Studio as in Npp. If that is indeed the case, then you need to use MATLAB or Visual Studio settings and set the font accordingly. Npp does NOT include a font in its app, this is taken from the operating system.

    @Harald-René-Flasch Now is as good a time as any to make a shameless plug of my JSON Tools plugin, which can parse JSONC.

    The JSTool plugin is another good option with JSONC parsing ability. I assume it is better for a JavaScript developer and its tree viewer loads faster than mine, but it is a bit less feature-rich when it comes to working with pure JSON.

    @John-Sampson said in regex and newlines:

    However, Notepad++ included newlines so that it changed each line to “ren \1” on one line, “\1” on a new line

    So if you were using \1 that assumes you were searching in regular expression mode. Then I’m going to assume your find what field also captured the CR and LF characters which are EOL markers. Returning those would likely produce the result you saw.

    I think you need to post the Find What field you used so we can confirm what you were doing.

    Oh, just saw that @peterjones also believes the same.

    Notepad++ has such exclusion syntax; see the user manual HERE.

    Post further questions here if you have them.

    @PeterJones
    I don’t, normally, do this myself as well but I think I found a way to reproduce it more or less easily.
    Preparation:
    open

    function list and folder as workspace(faw) dialogs ctrl+f click find tab press find all in all opened documents button

    Now click on a dialog title bar and throw, that is move the mouse quickly and release the mouse button, the dialog to another dialog as seen in the animation.

    In the gif you can see that I tried to throw the faw dialog onto the search results dialog, which failed, instead it opened
    as a floating dialog box. I double clicked on the header so that the dialog is put back in its original position.

    EDIT: used a new portable 8.4.6 version, no additional plugins.

    @swegmike ,

    Honestly, I wasn’t convinced when you originally wrote this that it was an on-topic question for this forum, and thought it might even be a spam link, given how tenuous a connection there seemed between Function List definitions and “XML schema regexp builder”… but it didn’t pass my threshold of “spamminess”, so I didn’t report it. Now that you’ve linked from another discussion, and shown that you’re genuinely interested, I’ll reply … but to be clear, I still haven’t read whatever may be at the other end of the link.

    But based on the way you’ve phrased things, I personally don’t see how such a tool would help. I don’t know how an “XML Editor”, even one that gives you regex to parse XML (which is what I assume that does), would help. The Function List syntax just uses XML to wrap meta-information around the regexes. But unless you are writing a Function List for an XML-based language (ie, a language that uses XML tags to do its coding), I don’t see any connection to the task of creating your function list definition.

    But if it helps you, great. You don’t need our approval to use something external that helps you develop a regex, whether it’s for the developing regex for the Function List feature, or for your own search-and-replace needs, or for anything else.

    I’ve personally successfully created and/or modified multiple Function List definitions. We have a Function List Basics FAQ here, written by someone who I consider THE NPP Function List expert. And I’ve done my best to make the User Manual Function List overview and Function List config file syntax as useful as possible.

    @Mike-Collins

    It isn’t “spelling”, it is “auto completion”.

    To elaborate on Peter’s answer, you can control it by going here:

    Follow the yellow markings and untick Enable to totally turn it off per your request.

    But, if you just want Enter to make it work, make sure ENTER (with the green marking in my screenshot) is ticked.

    @Murray-Sobol-1

    I am getting the cloudflare error for https://notepad-plus-plus.org/ as well. I have pinged @donho. – oh, I see that it seems to have been fixed in the last 5 minutes between when i started my reply and now.

    @swegmike ,

    since I want to post a bug report and can’t.

    Bug reports go on the github issue tracker (https://github.com/notepad-plus-plus/notepad-plus-plus/issues), so the state of https://notepad-plus-plus.org/ does not affect your ability to report an issue.

    Moreover, when I respond to my own post on the forum and then try to edit the last post that was only done a few minutes before, a popup states I can’t thinking that 4 hours has past.

    Weird. The forum is hosted externally to the main Notepad++ website, despite being a subdomain, so shouldn’t be affected by problems with the main website. That sounds more like a clock mismatch somewhere.

    Hi @guy038 ,
    I have reproduced all your tests successfullly. Thank you very much!

    As Peter pointed out, all these different descriptions and own experiences may help to understand the issue better.

    @PeterJones Sorry I didn’t respond earlier. My mother has been in the hospital for several weeks and I had to tend to her.

    Even though the adjustment hasn’t met the compromise I laid out, I’m glad that at least something was done about the length of time to edit a post.

    @Bill-Artemik

    default font is WAY too small for my aging eyes

    Adjust this for a permanent change:

    Also, as a temporary measure, you can do:

    a16bef93-b35b-4265-ab91-eff047179bea-image.png

    this should be an easy task

    Well, sometimes with “powerful” programs, the flexibility built into them makes “easy” things a bit more involved. :-)

    @Kapil-Patel said in Option to Move all documents to another view & Compare Plugin issue:

    It would be better if option to move all documents to another view is provided. Currently we have to move the documents one by one to another view.

    An ISSUE was opened about this.
