    Thanks PeterJones, the reboot thing I will take into account next time, to see that it was failing, I reinstalled it, the truth is that it has happened to me several times, even copy the configuration from one computer to another, and the same thing happened, and now I can not check it on the other PC, but when I can see if to run it again has been solved.

    Maybe not exactly what you’re looking for but just fyi. I’ve updated the CSV Lint plug-in to v4.5.3 which includes a new option in the “Reformat Data” dialog to replace any carriage return/line feed characters (CRLF or CR or LF) with a given string, for example <br>.

    You can install the latest plug-in manually by going to the releases page, download the zip and follow the steps as described here.

    No and no. I suppose you could make a feature request (see FAQ).

  • Is DocMonitor.v2.2 the same as built in Monitoring

    @M-Winchester-Jr ,

    The DocMonitor v2.2 plugin appears to have been released in 2008 (fourteen years ago!) and hasn’t been updated since. Given that it was by Don, I assume that at the time (that predates my Notepad++ usage), he still hadn’t incorporated the monitoring feature yet (file status auto-detection was added in v5.7 in 2010, and full Monitoring mode was added in v6.9.2 in 2016)

    Given all the changes that have happened to Notepad++ since 2008 (v5.1), I would say it’s a much better idea to use the built-in feature, not a plugin that hasn’t been updated in one-and-a-half decades.

    @Hermann-Ruckerbauer said in Help the compare plugin by aligning some lines:

    I can not distinguish between alignment points along the file (I would like to see e. g. a number or a different color). I would like to have the option to jump to the next alignment point in the navigation.

    There should be an orange (default color) half width marker in the left marker margin at each point. No way to navigate alignments per se, but each one will most likely create a new diff block with the point as first/last line and you can navigate diffs.

  • Delete lines with date older that a week.

    @PeterJones Thanks for the quick response.
    You’re absolutely right of course :-) - the message says it all - will take it up with the plugin writers.

    They released v2.2.185.7 to make it compatible with Notepad++ v8.4 and newer, but that version wasn’t submitted to Plugins Admin until v8.4.4, so you will have to manually update the plugin from their website.

    Even though the user deleted their account before getting an answer, this was a good question.

    As far as my experiments went, they were correct: In “light” mode, the text on the active tab’s title follows the foreground colour setting exactly. In Dark Mode, the text on the active tab’s title is some “inverse” of that, but not the normal “inverse”, so it is very hard to tell what the final color of the tab’s text will be, based on that setting.

    If there is someone who is interested in getting that fixed, you should go to the Feature Request FAQ and follow those instructions to put in an official feature request. That official feature request should contain a link to this discussion (so that the developers know that it’s not just you who want the fix), and you should come back and put a link to that feature request in this discussion (so that readers here can find the issue, and see whether it is fixed in a future version of notepad++).

    @Florian-Seidl-Schulz ,

    Save As has always worked for me.

    Can you be a bit more specific as to the exact sequence of events, the exact error message, and the exact version details (?-menu’s Debug Info). Without that, your chances of getting any useful help are vanishingly small.

    @PeterJones I appreciate your attempts to reproduce the problem.
    I did note in my original post (which was a bit run-on, I apologize) that “no, I know that’s not right either, hm, because if the reload prompt is already up, then normally the user cannot click the close ‘x’, because the reload prompt modal dialog is already open”.

    I’m also aware that this isn’t for someone to fix my problem. That’s why I posed it as “this thing happened”, “I’m unable to reproduce”, and “Well, for whatever little this report is worth…”

    That said, I’m sure that I didn’t hit another key - I definitely clicked an ‘x’ in the Notepad++ window, and it definitely stayed open and threw away the session (both in that stayed open window, and when I clicked ‘x’ again to exit Npp and re-opened Npp).

    Again, for whatever it’s worth.

    @Alan-Kilborn said in Why do updates reset some settings?:

    A simpler method is to just pull version Y’s executable file into version Z, but just blindly doing that makes me nervous.

    Yes, blindly doing the file replace makes me nervous too and it’s not really an option I’d go for. I’ve found the entries in config.xml all but one of the things I posted about so I can always create a script to change those back to my preferred options after updating. However, I don’t know what to look for in that file (or even if there’s an entry for it) for number 3 - Panels that were on the left are reset to the right. Are you able to help me with that?

    Okay, thanks. I guess I’ll just rebuild that app using the .exe.
