If there were truly a bug, then it wouldn’t go here for the official reporting and tracking; there is a FAQ which explains where bug reports go if you want them officially noticed and tracked.

In this case, it’s not a bug, at least from the way I understood your description.

When you edit any Notepad++ config file (including the autocompletion files), there is a sequence defined in the user manual (https://npp-user-manual.org/docs/config-files/#editing-configuration-files) as the only reliable sequence to get the changes to take effect. If you follow any other sequence, you might get surprising results, or your changes might get overwritten.

Obviously, if there are URL text in documents you aren’t in charge of, this doesn’t help.

This behavior you mention has been requested a few times.

There are some potential problems with the request:

How do you know if a line contains 1 hit, 2 hits, 3 hits, etc.? How do you jump into the “source” for the search if you want the 2nd, 3rd, etc. hit? (One assumes that a double-click on the line would jump to the first match – current behavior)
Maybe these are “don’t cares” for you, but, as pointed out to you in another thread, you aren’t the only Notepad++ user in the universe.

If you have really read the other discussions here in this forum that talk about similar issues, you will know that there is not concensus, even in the Community, about whether such an action would be “the best thing ever” or “the worst possible decision”. I am not sure whether you think stating your opinion as fact will make it fact, or if you think that by stating it again, you can impose your will on all other users, or if there is some other interpretation.

Further, if you had read even a small number of such discussions here, you would have seen a link to this FAQ, which explains that even if every single member of the Forum agreed with you, that wouldn’t change the fact that feature requests are not tracked here, and discussion in this Forum does not directly result in action or decisions by the developers.

I personally would vote against your change, if my vote had any meaning or weight (it doesn’t, since this is the Forum); the bulk of your argument is that “it takes me more time to get the results in the form that I like, so you should change it to match my preferences”; the bulk of the counter argument is “if it changed, it would take us more time to get the results in the form that we like”. Neither choice will make everyone happy. The current behavior is likely what the developer prefers, because it’s what he implemented when he decided the feature should be implemented; good luck changing his mind on that.

Well, I found out where the error was
This error is caused by an nvda add-on that makes it easy to use Notepad ++ with an nvda screen reader
Because I can only take advantage of the auto-complete feature by using this add-on
Because the suggested word list shown by the code auto-complete feature is not accessible
When I disabled the add-on, the error disappeared

Delimiter work best if they are defined with start/end tags.
If other parts are within a delimiter try playing with nesting (available via styler button) to see if this solves your issues.

I am not 100% sure what you mean by “screen activation functionality”.

From a general “dark mode” sense: Please note that there have been multiple requests for a truer “dark mode”, both here and in the correct issues tracker mentioned in the FAQ, with nothing happening on it. A likely reason is that the codebase was created when “dark mode” wasn’t such a thing, so the right hooks weren’t made in the code to make it easy to implement; at this point, it’s probably a huge effort, and the developers have not prioritized such an extreme effort.

However, if you search other recent “dark mode” threads, you will see that there are Windows settings that can be changed which will influence the color of the UI portions of Notepad++, which may or may not give you what you want.

It seems they finally added this option in settings! Nice!!!

Isn’t NPP designed to run on current monitors?

Not particularly.
Notepad++ is a very old codebase.
High DPI support is one of its weaknesses because it is difficult to adapt a legacy application to it.
Not impossible, it just takes a lot of effort.
And since Notepad++ is supported purely by donated time and basically zero funding, it hasn’t been able to keep pace with certain things (fancy Windows theming is another).

Bug exist, you don’t need open new.

The mistake I made was copying just the icon to the desktop for ease of use. Wrong thing to do.
I am running it from the original folder where it was installed and it is fine now. File Associations were set up correctly. This issue can be closed.
