I think we need to start by adjusting your expectations. Notepad++ is free and open source software. You didn’t pay the developers for their time and effort. Further, you haven’t come to an official “support” hotline, where you are paying for immediate answers to your problems; you have come to the Community forum, where people from the Notepad++ Community, who are fellow Notepad++ users (and occasionally people who have participated in development, though not always, or even necessarily often) who come to this forum to freely give their time to help users – both long-term or new – solve problems or find workarounds.

And note my use of the word “workarounds”: often, we in the Community provide you with debugging help, and once the problem is found, come up with alternates or workarounds to help you through your issue, because we cannot directly create updates to the Notepad++ core code, and/or to the plugin code involved; and even when bug reports are issued in the proper channels for the application or the appropriate plugin, they can take weeks or months before they are implemented and released (if ever).

In light of these circumstances, instead of demanding our immediate help, you should politely request help.

on to your specific technical problem:

After updating NOTEPAD ++ 7.5.9

Does that mean you previously had v7.5.9, and it has now updated to a new version? Or that you had an even older version, and have now upgraded to v7.5.9? Because the likely solution paths will be different for those two circumstances. Also,

are you using 32-bit or 64-bit Notepad++? (Zen Coding plugin is currently only released for the 32-bit.)

Both of those questions will be correctly answered by sending us the ? > Debug Info > Copy debug info into clipboard. Further, so we know which copy of Zen Coding is installed, please go to Plugins > Zen Coding - Python > About and let us know exactly what that dialog box says – or, if there is no Plugins > Zen Coding - Python, let us know that.

plug-in does not work

Could you give us specifics? Does that mean it doesn’t exist in the menu after you install it? Or it does exist in the menu, but nothing happens when you try to use it? Or something happens, but that “something” is an error message?

Giving us information will do a lot more to help us help you than using exclamation points and demanding compliance to your desires.

If you provide us with information, and treat us in a reasonable manner, we will do our best to help you.

you are absolutely correct here, to discuss possibilities or pre-discuss issues with a large audience of community members and devs.
unfortunately long full path names are still a windows problem in general.

you can try to use the free utility FileSeek to test if it is working on your path structure length.
it has notepad++ integration and a lot of include/exclude, date and regex functions. much more than can ever be integrated into notepad++.

if you like that it gets eventually solved, e.g. with path workaround tricks, directly at the notepad++ core, you can also follow our FAQ Desk: Feature Request or Bug Report guide, to search the issue tracker for similar path length issues, or file a new issue, if you can’t find any matching issue.

not really, at least not yet.

as both version 7.6.4 and 7.6.6 are not code signed, and 7.6.4 works, i would exclude a security policy, that prevents unsigned code to access your data files.

if you have time and dare testing pre-release versions, you could also try the current 7.7 release candidates from >>> here <<<, to see if they would work on your system. they are code signed again, so maybe they could work, if it is a security setting or protection software that causes this.
(portable .zip versions are also available, for testing without the need of installing them)

this is the default behaviour of all official notepad++ releases, installed and portable.

if it is not, please go to the notepad++ menu settings > preferences > backup and activate remember current session for next launch and enable session snapshot and periodic backup (7 seconds) as seen at the screenshot below:

The original version 7.6 was rather problematic. I think you should follow @Meta-Chuh 's advice, and grab v7.6.6. It will have the Plugins Admin for you to use.

this does not seem to happen to me, using notepad++ 7.6.6 32 bit and dspellcheck 1.4.11.0.

if i switch to round box, and right-click on any misspelling and choose ignore for current session, only the highlight of this word is removed, but not all.

maybe the author @Predelnik has an idea what could cause this, or you can have a look at the issue tracker, if something similar has been reported already:

what dspellcheck version are you using, and what is your debug information from the notepad++ menu: ? > debug info... > copy debug info into clipboard ?

there are two ways to change your avatar again, as long as you still have a local copy of your tribal avatar:

1) change your avatar at your primary account, like google, for all platforms you use.

2) change your avatar just for the notepad++ community:

click on your avatar at the top right of your screen.
then click at your name (Alan Kilborn), as seen at the screenshot below.
(… yes, i know it does not say Alan Kilborn there … 😉)

this is the default behaviour and has always been that way.

when you switch from ltr to rtl, notepad++ will switch to right to left text editing for all tabs.

this is intriguing, and i hope we can work it out.

If Notepad++ is currently open, then [sometimes] Notepad++ won’t open, and nothing happens. (erratic/buggy behaviour)
This was tested on Windows 8.1 pro 64-bit

if notepad++ is in mono instance mode, and it is already open, it will not open another window, but it should always open your file.

can you check, if it makes any difference, whether the file to be opened, but does not open, has following conditions:

the file has spaces in it’s path or filename. the file is on a network drive and notepad++ is in administrator mode, which does not have access to the network drives mapped to your user account.

also your debug info can be of help. please go to the notepad++ menu ? > debug info... > copy debug info into clipboard and paste the clipboard content here.

the missing autocomplete experience, might be due to the folder location changes of the newer notepad++ releases, causing the installer not to automatically select the autocompletion option when updating.

(the old folder location was Notepad++\plugins\APIs, and the new folder location is Notepad++\autoCompletion\)

the usual fix is to install notepad++ again, on top of your existing notepad++, and make sure that autocompletion is activated at the installer.
(recommended version: 7.6.6)

here are some details from a similar issue:

please check if C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\autoCompletion\xml.xml exists. (folder location example of a default 32 bit install)

if it does not exist, please download the 7.6.6. 32 bit installer from >>> here <<< ,
or the 7.6.6. 64 bit installer from >>> here <<< ,
and re-install it on top of your existing notepad++.
important note: make sure that auto-completion files is selected when re-installing.

if it does exist, please go to settings > preferences > auto-completion and check that function and word completion and function parameters hint on input are activated, as seen at the screenshot below:

Yes. The only change necessary on this end was Tab settings going from [Default] to normal.

The missing understanding was both the terminology where this setting was located from previous reply statements and the video of how different combinations come together.

Because Plugins Admin is built into Notepad++ v7.6.x and newer, and is compatible with the newest (v7.6.6); whereas Plugin Manager was an externally-maintained tool which is now incompatible with v7.6.x.

Since you keep refusing to help us help you (ie, post the Debug Info), we cannot actually confirm your version number… but since you have Plugins Admin available, I assume it’s v7.6.x, and since you said you just upgraded to a new version, I am going to further assume that you upgraded to the most recent. But really, if you want our help, you’ll provide the info we ask for. If you don’t want our help, you’ll keep giving replies that ignore our advice and queries.

(If you want to get rid of the 20min delay between posts, people will need to upvote you. I am guessing that won’t happen until you start showing a willingness to help us help you. For example, I am sure you could get the requisite two upvotes just by actually posting the Debug Info.)
