Also, you can use the NppExec plugin along with your favorite scripting language (AWK, PERL, Python, PHP, etc.) to add extended capabilities to NPP. It takes a bit of work to set it up, but once you do, it opens a lot of doors.

On my context menu I have a Comment submenu that has various forms of comments I can select. They are either applied to the highlighted lines or to the entire file (when nothing is highlighted). To do this I use a combination of NPP Exec and AWK scripts.

I also created the ability to change either ALL or only LEADING tabs into the appropriate number of spaces for the type of file, trim trailing white space, and convert the current “word” into a global variable format I use in the same general manner (NPP Exec and AWK). All these functions work on either the highlighted or all of lines of the file.

and I find it frustrating that I can’t figure out how to disable the headers (which means I delete and re-set them up all the time)…

why do you reset it up if you want it to be disabled?

Wow, didn’t know about v7 (and took some minutes to even find it), thanks a lot!

The most recent from of XML Tools is v2.4.8. Although this was released on 2015-09-05, the Plugin Manager’s list of known plugins was (finally) updated about a week ago so it most likely you finally got the newest update.

My virus scanner did not have a problem with either the zip or the extracted files. It is possible you have a false positive but best to err on the side of caution. You might contact the authors of the plugin to see if they have any additional information.

With the left view active, execute the command on the View menu “Zoom -> Restore Default Zoom”. Now switch to the right view (make it active) and repeat the restore default zoom command. If this doesn’t make the two views nicely viewable side-by-side, post again.

This is not a problem of NPP. The font you are using simply does not contain a glyph for “LEFTWARDS DOUBLE ARROW” (x21D0). For an overview of fonts containing this glyph, have a look here.

seems to be a problem of the lexer which comes as part of scintilla component.
Should be addressed here.
But verify first if it hasn’t been already reported.

Was this intended?
If so, could you explain in more detail what you do, like how you access the file
using UNC or mappings etc…
