BTW, the script may not work for the file active when N++ starts up. A workaround would be to add this line at the end of the __init__ function:

self.bufferactivated_notify(None)

@Terry-R I didn’t say that in multiple instances of N++

What I meant that changing RTL/LTR on one tab affects all tabs of the same instance … who would open N++ in multiple instances?!

Changing text direction should not be global dynamic setting but rather significant on the tab it was altered on.

We fellow Community members cannot do anything about that, as we are mostly just users like you, and this Community exists for fellow Notepad++ users to help each other. We have a FAQ explaining how to make a feature request.

This Forum was created by the developers, and is hosted by the developers, for the Community to use to help each other use Notepad++ and to talk about and advocate for the application.

We just don’t have the power/authority in the forum to agree to make changes to the source code, and the forum is not the location for feature requests and bug reports. That’s an unfortunate side effect of the Developers deciding to only have 5 toolbar icon options, instead of 6. Other than not wanting to support so many alternatives, since they already had the icon set for the large colored icons, I am not sure why they decided to remove the large-standard icons.

You might want to go put in your 2c on issue #9913, which asks for a set of large standard icons to be added back in. The more “regular users” who weigh in, the more likely it is that the Developers team will consider implementing the request. Good luck.

That was my reason for posting it.
It also provides a workaround, if you choose to go that way with your own setup.

There is one thing that might help you. If you select text on a website, then paste that into a Notepad++ empty tab you will get the text without the formatting, although it will have EOLs included so in a way it is still formatted…
If you wanted the text with html code included (or RTF which is another option) you “edit” (main menu), then “paste special” and select html (or RTF) and you get the additional formatting code. Works for me.

The behavior is controlled by a Preference setting:

AFAIK, the default settings (as shown) should do what you want, specifically, you’d only get prompted for reload of changed file, when you activate that file’s tab.

Example with picture:
Select some files, order of selection doesn’t matter, but right click is done on cs.xml:

It is possible. You need to use a regular expression (regex) in the Find window and have search mode set to “regular expression”.
Find what:855834693|855834706

Press the count button.

This regex uses alternation, that’s the pipe character between the numbers to say either number will count as 1.

I was linking directly to a posting, not the larger thread, for the awesome solution to the problem posed here in this thread.
The linked posting discusses using Ctrl+Delete, not any plugin.

Plugins (including Better Multiselection) are great, but even better is when something available natively is the solution to something. And the Ctrl+Delete technique is available natively.

REPLACE \r\n ( or \n only for Unix files )

Tick the Wrap around option

Select the Extended or Regular espression search mode

Click on the Replace All button

Yes, this feature is very useful. Maybe someone else implements it, I see the application is updated frequently.

What about a hybrid between @Alan-Kilborn & @mere-human earlier selection?

additions/changes/tweaks:
“new 9” updates to the next file for each single press of ‘Yes’ or ‘No’
‘Yes’ saves the file in question, ‘No’ doesn’t and both skip to the next file
‘N’ counts down as Yes or No are pressed
add a balloon hint to ‘Yes to all’ to show the ‘Can be changed in preferences’ hint.

The part I’m not sure about is: What to do when the list of N+1 files has been presented and there are still unsaved files. My first thought is that’s the job of the ‘Close’ dialog as the ‘Save All’ dialog has completed it’s job. My second thought is to ask for ideas.

BTW: I’d rather see ‘Yes to all’ be rewritten as ‘Yes, save all’
